Storm on Galilee, Matthew 14:22-36

Now after the miraculous feeding of the multitude,
Jesus was tired and He wanted some solitude,
And He went up in the hills to pray,
And He might have lingered there until day.

But the disciples found themselves once more,
Caught in a storm and far from shore,
Wind and waves treacherous, sink or swim,
A terrifying figure moved toward them.

Frightened, they cried out, gasping in fear,
But Jesus spoke calmly, "It's ok. I'm here."
And Peter impulsively said to the Lord,
"Bid me to come and I will at Your word."

Jesus said "Come!" and Peter was walking,
On waves until his fear started talking.
Sinking, he asked for Jesus to save him,
Remembering the One he had first put his faith in.

And Jesus reminded him faith is the thing,
To grab onto when we are beginning to sink.
They crossed the lake, the interlude passed,
To heal broken people, wading into the masses.
